West Island Montessori Academy’s mission is to educate the child holistically, where each child will be in a safe and supportive environment. At West Island Montessori Academy, learning occurs naturally. The Montessori teacher’s goal is to inspire the child’s capabilities while creating independence. We strive to prepare our children not only academically and socially, but also to be conscious decision makers while respecting themselves, others, and their environment. At West Island Montessori Academy, children are prepared for life in their formative years, which carries through throughout adulthood.

Our Philosophy

The Montessori approach invites children to learn at their own pace. Children develop the skills they need to excel as learners. The approach is a sequential way of learning and is comprised of five elements which are designed to target isolated skills. The practical life and sensorial activities are precursors to language and math skills.
