Ingrid Lalchan

Founder & Owner Director

Ingrid's Montessori journey began with a passion for early childhood education and a commitment to helping children reach their full potential. After completing her Early Childhood Education studies and discovering Montessori philosophy through The Absorbent Mind, she trained as a Montessori educator and successfully operated her own school in Trinidad for more than a decade.

In 1994, she founded West Island Montessori Academy, bringing her vision of authentic Montessori education to Montreal's West Island. Her leadership has helped shape the academy into a respected Montessori school and teacher training centre dedicated to excellence in education.

Kristian Lalchan

Director

Raised in Montessori from infancy, Kristian's connection to the philosophy is both personal and professional. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Human Sciences from Concordia University and completed his Montessori training through the Canadian Montessori Teacher Education Institute.

As Director, Kristian is committed to preserving the integrity of Montessori education while supporting the academy's continued growth. He is currently advancing his training as a future Montessori teacher trainer, helping prepare the next generation of Montessori educators.

Nicollette (Nicky) Lalchan

Coordinator

Nicky combines her background in Applied Human Sciences with a passion for education and community engagement. As Coordinator, she supports the day-to-day operations of the academy while helping families navigate programs, admissions, and school life.

Dedicated to expanding access to authentic Montessori education, she plays an important role in fostering strong relationships between the school, its families, and the wider community.
